Day 11 Namche Bazar-Deboche (3820m)
Yesterday I was lucky, Tracy (one of the Aussi dads) bought a medium pot of tea, it held about 12 cups of tea and I was given 4 of them for free (I think I upheld the British stereotype well). It was a fairly steady walk once we had climbed out of Namche but after lunch it was uphill all the way to the lodge, on the way we had good views of Lhotse, Everest and Amadablam. It’s getting to the point where I’m just waiting to see Lobouche East. At the lodge 3 different Aussies were staying there, they had just returned from EBC, one guy Scott had mild-altitude sickness. By the time we got to the lodge I had already had 1 coffee, 4 black teas and 2 hot lemons; due to other people’s generosity I have only paid for one tea. That evening we all played loads of games of Brag (a gambling card game) which the Sherpas know how to play too. As with all the tea houses a large wood burner sat in the middle of the dining room; it was especially welcome as there were flurries of snow outside the window. I wondered if we might wake up to a blanket of snow.
